11. US Military Conduct 2 Major Terror Raids and Seize Al Qaeda leader

This article talks about the capturing of an Al Qaeda leader called Abu Anas al Libi in Tripoli, Libia. He is said to be the one behind the 1998 bombings in American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Libi was on the most wanted list in the FBI (5 million dollars). Just yesterday, the military conducted an operation to seize the Al Qaeda leader and is now "currently lawfully detained under the law of war in a secure location outside of Libia"( Secretary George Little). He was also said to have plotted attacks against U.S. forces in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Somalia, as well as in American embassies in Dar es Salaam and Nairobi. Libi is now detained in a ship at sea, waiting to be prosecuted in a U.S. court. Before this, however, Libi allegedly stayed in Sudan (where bin Laden was) in the early 1990s and then went to Britain in the early 1995, imprisoned, and then later ran away in 2000. The article then mentions the second raid in order to counter attack a terrorist militant group called Al Shabaab (leader is Mukhtar Abu Zubeyr), after they attacked a mall in Somalia and killed 60 people. Not much has been revealed about this incident, other than a militant was killed.
This selection proves to be effective for an informative purpose. It is targeted to an American and more mature audience due to the serious subject being discussed. The passage has a very serious tone as well. As American press contributors (article does not reveal the author) of the article, Jennifer Griffin and Justin Fishel are biased. They present America's point of view, of course, mentioning the convincing reasons for why the U.S. forces raided the Al Qaeda and Al Shabaab groups and what the the terrible results caused by the terrorist group attacks were. This article also includes many quotes from high-ranked officers and political figures, which makes it much more reliable. The selection is also complemented with a video about the same situation, but with actual pictures and scenes from FoxNews (TV).
