This Monday November 4, a
devastating Typhoon hit
the Philippines. The Philippines authorities warned their citizens and asked
them to evacuate to a shelter provided by the government. Everyone was warned but
many decided to stay at their homes because they underestimated the force of
the storm. Typhoon Haiyan is the biggest and strongest typhoon registered in
Human history. Around 11,000 victims are estimated, but the Red Cross can only
give exact numbers in a week or two because of the many small island surrounding
the Philippines. CNN displays gruesome picture of bodies lying on the side of
the roads wile people pass by in confusion, and Mothers and wife’s weep for
their loses. What really frustrated the survivors was the late response from
the government. Since the Authorities already knew and predicted the storm, why
did it take them over 24 hour to respond? The answer is that many government
official did not come to work because they themselves lost family members or
property.
The author gives an informational report about an
event that affected many lives in many ways. He is affective in capturing reader’s
attention and displays a quick and clear new to all how want to know what
really happened. Towards the end of his report he appeals to anyone how can
help, and gives websites were people can donate whatever they want. The author
effectively explains the event in detail and at the same time appeals for help
threw his essay.
