15. Typhoon Haiyan

This Monday November 4, a devastating Typhoon hit the Philippines. The Philippines authorities warned their citizens and asked them to evacuate to a shelter provided by the government. Everyone was warned but many decided to stay at their homes because they underestimated the force of the storm. Typhoon Haiyan is the biggest and strongest typhoon registered in Human history. Around 11,000 victims are estimated, but the Red Cross can only give exact numbers in a week or two because of the many small island surrounding the Philippines. CNN displays gruesome picture of bodies lying on the side of the roads wile people pass by in confusion, and Mothers and wife’s weep for their loses. What really frustrated the survivors was the late response from the government. Since the Authorities already knew and predicted the storm, why did it take them over 24 hour to respond? The answer is that many government official did not come to work because they themselves lost family members or property.
