In this article the author, Alexis
Madrigal explores the subject about privacy in social media. He gives the
example of a work buddy who posts pictures of his baby kids naked. He say how
he squirms with horror when he sees the disturbing naked picture. He is
disturbed even further when he thinks about how anyone can effortlessly see
those pictures and be potential pedophiles. However, he goes on in saying that
even though content is available for a lot of people, very few will actually
see it. There is privacy in Instagram for example because the probability of a
pedophile looking at the pictures would be very low.
The
authoring that s purpose is to inform the author about social medias and
privacy issues. He begins stating that posting personal pictures are very
compromising and horrible, which would probably be everyone’s first reaction. In
the second half of his essay he explains how this behavior is not nearly as
dangerous as the common opinion. Madrigal gives precise numeric information
about the probability of people looking at the baby pictures and being
pedophiles. The author effectively achieved his purpose because he gave good
information to back up his thesis and is coherent in his main point throughout
his essay.
