He defines the term twerking as "a dance move typically associated with lower-income African-American women that involves the rapid gyration of the hips in a fashion that prominently exhibits the elasticity of the gluteal musculature." He tells the readers (teens with curious parents) that twerking is a normal part pf life, and when parents ask them what twerking is, there's nothing to be shameful of. Wayne also talks about Miley Cyrus, who is white and wealthy so why she would twerk on TV. He describes her reason for twerking as "a brazenly cynical act of cultural appropriation being passed off as a rebellious reclamation of her sexuality after a childhood in the Disneyfied spotlight" which is true and an agreeable reason. Some parents might even start twerking proudly in front of their kids, not realizing the inappropriateness of their actions and words. He wraps up his article by concluding that With a no-nonsense yet empathetic approach, you can create a safe space in which to discuss twerking with your parents.
First of all, Wayne wrote this article pointing directly towards children with parents that might soon or have already questioned them of the dance called "twerking". Then he defines the original meaning of twerking so that the readers would know that it wasn't such an embarrassing dance at first. After he explains the original usage or intention for twerking, he mentions Miley Cyrus to contrast the idea of appropriate twerking. After that he gives examples of several different situations where parents might start twerking. He concludes his article saying that by creating an empathetic approach kids can have a safe, appropriate conversations with their parents about twerking. However I was very confused by Wayne's conclusion. While reading his article, I had no idea of what he was trying to say. Half of the time he talked about twerking, Miley Cyrus, and how parents would react to twerking. His main idea or statement was not clear in how teens should explain twerking to parents. Overall his attemption to get the idea of twerking across to the readers was successful, but I do not think his intention or main purpose of writing this article did not clearly get across
