This article talks about woman and rape,
but not in a common way. It shows studies about how older women are dating and
having relations with teenage boys. The author stresses that women also commit
rape on younger boys. Her main points refer to magazines such as Adore, The
Lifeguard and A Teacher which make these relations seem normal. Authorities are
becoming more lenient about this issue every day and take little action to fix
it. The thesis in this article is that these magazines are making rape be considered
less dangerous or threatening.
The
author does well in exactly citing hat these magazines say in favor of this
woman to teenager relationship. She cites all of her sources making her more
credible. She firmly sticks to her thesis which helps her in making the readers
be convinced that these magazines are harmful to society in general. Her main
point was to make people realize how these magazines manipulate the reader into
thinking that this kind of relationship is a good thing. She intends to
convince the reader that these magazines should be avoided because they expose
people to more danger, making they believe that something harmful is inoffensive.
The author does achieve her goal of making the reader be aware and more careful
of that type of media. It also makes people more aware of the rape that has
been occurring recently and it’s potential harm to teenage boys.
