Garber has definately a very good attention getter that is her title. She is objective in saying what she is going to talk about in the very beggning; the vinyl disk sent into space. She grabs the attention of the reader by stating avarious interesting facts about space and about the crew that made the project. Her main point was to tell the reader about this message sent to space and how it contained humanity in it. Garber says how that little disk contained beauty, art and joy that sums up human in earth. She has a positive point of view towards human kind and our actions saying that they are good and that the culture that exist in planet Earth is a rich one. She does not have explicit points that prove a main idea because her esay was more like a story. Garber's essay es very effective in informing the reader about the message in Voyager 1 in a way that cannot be easily forgotten and that says how earth is a beautiful and rich place where people can prosper.

9.The Message Voyager 1 Carries for Alien Civilizations
In her essay Megan Garber talks about the message Voyager 1 carries for aliens. In 1977 Carl Sagen assembled a group if videos and information summing up life on earth. He thought it would be best to send a vinyl disk through space than a spaceship because it would last more time. He hoped that the aliens would be civilized enough that they would be able to hear the disk. Sagen had a group of scientists that had different tasks. Some got recording of people saying "hello" in 55 different languages, they got pictures and music. This vinyl disk showed human culture, and what we have to offer. Garber ends her essay she quotes Jimmy Carter the president of the USA :"This is a present from a small, distant world, a token of our sounds, our science, our images, our music, our thoughts and our feelings. We are attempting to survive our time so we may live into yours."
