19. Thousand-mile Winter Storm


                 Tuesday, January 21, 2014 it snowed nearly 1,000 miles between Kentucky and Massachusetts. This caused the cancellation of around 3,000 commercial flights, shutdown of government offices in D.C., and the temporary closing of schools. In some states up to 16 inches of snow fell, but in others like Boston they were considered to be let off lightly. The temperature were expected to fall from 10 to 25 degrees below the average causing people to obviously wanting to heat their homes, witch resulted in fuel costs to soar. This unusual wether dint help the heavy traffic and unsafe roads, it even canceled New Jersey's new Gov. inauguration party. Press and people on Instagram took this opportunity to capture some pictures witch show the terrible wethers affect.
                The article is based on a picture witch accompanies it in order to make the scope of the wether more comprehensible. With a clear and to the point writing style, the author accomplishes a pure informational article on the surprising wether changes, and the causes it brought with it. By displaying a picture in the beginning and several in the end, the author is able to capture readers interests more successfully. The author is clear and effective in giving out information. He does not give self opinions, though he does wright about, what for him, was an ironic event.
