20. Sandy

Dearest Sandy,
Your analysis of the two books were very thorough and provided a concise summary of the concepts they went over. You did a great job analyzing the concepts in Outliers by examining the different examples Gladwell gave in his book, portraying the elements he presents clearly. You also did a good job of evaluating the major stories he presented in his book, taking the evidence in context and explaining how Gladwell came to his assumptions and how he developed his argument. Furthermore, you did a great job of making a clear portrayal of the book while providing your own input on the concepts it portrayed. Although there were some grammatical mistakes, your language was clear and fluid. Nevertheless, you could have made a more general summary of the book; for even though you went in depth, you spent a good deal of time summarizing. The length of the paragraphs left the reader hanging a bit, for at some points it is almost listing the events. Nevertheless, by being so thorough you were able to capture the essence of the author, his evidence and beliefs about success.
Similarly, you did a great job on your analysis of No Impact Man, going into great depth and analyzing the progression of the authors emotions. You had a clear thesis which directed your summary, stating what occurred to him at the emotional and physical level, giving the reader a good understanding of both the writing style and the emotion behind it. Furthermore, you analyzed his thought process and the cause and effect relationship which led him to hold his new beliefs. Again your summary was a little lengthy, yet it was still concise and showed understanding. The last paragraph could have explained your insights more thoroughly and why the message was inspiring to you. Overall, your summary was interesting and concise, although it did not comprosie on the summary's length it was insightful. Your language was clear and fluid, following a set structure defined by a clear and well thoughout thesis.
