19.How To Make Your Book a Bestesller
In
this article by MARY KAY ZURAVLEFF her main idea is to inform the reader the steps
into making a book become a bestseller. She gives clear steps in how to do so
in this tutorial-like article. Her introduction ends in a creative phrase “It’s time for you to think outside the
book.” With this creative and humoristic intent she continues her essay
by bringing up the first topic: the internet. The internet can help in sharing
the book with other people and advertising on facebook or even youtube videos.
Another step into making a book successful is to join or start a book club in
which one’s novel can be rea and criticized in a productive and calm environment.
Lastly, publicity which enables the book to be well known and published, this
can be achieved by giving out books, doing promotions and various other
options. Zuravleff ends her essay, again, in a humoristic note: “Don’t forget, if every prison library
buys your book, it’s a guaranteed bestseller. ”
This
article is very well developed and is very well tied up with reasonable and
credible information. Zurvaleff appeals a lot to humor and makes a few humoristic
comments in her article. It is a good use for this rhetorical device because it
draws in the reader and keeps him hooked with these funny statements. She also
had accurate information about what one should do to make his or her book
famous. She used examples that have worked before and this helped improve her
credibility. Her subtopics were very effective and she also made use of
bulletpoints which helped in the understanding of the article. These devices are
helpful when writing a tutorial or something similar because it is simple and
straight forward. This essay was very effective because it achieves the author’s
purpose which was to guide someone into how to make their book a bestseller.
Zuravleff made a clear thesis and also supported all of her points always using
very believable and clear points.
