Dear André,
You did a great job writing the book report
of Outliers because it was very well
written and it includes a complete summary of the book. You were able to analyze
of the profound morals that the author was trying to transmit to the readers
and explain it with your own words. Instead of simply listing a series of facts, you
focused more on the knowledge of the book. In addition, you used rich
vocabularies to describe the new concept of success illustrated in the book and
also several examples to support your arguments. For example, you used the many
incidents of the Korean Airlines to explain the importance of legacy and the
cultural inheritance. In the concluding paragraph, you expressed your opinion
as a reader about the author’s writing and the writing techniques that were
used in the book. You also pointed out
the interesting parts of the book and also specified the type of audience that
would be most interested in reading it. However, you could have included more
examples from the book such as the biographies of the successful people because
then, this would strengthen your thesis. You could also extend the introduction
so that the readers would have a better image of what the book is about before
reading the body paragraphs.
Your second book report is also very well done. It
is very detailed and it explains the main events that the readers have to know.
You gave a complete background about the book in your introduction and this
prepares your readers before they read the body paragraphs. You were also able
to identify the use of language of the author and understand his strategies of
writing. Throughout the book report, you used several historical examples from
the book to explain the main theme of the book and this makes the whole essay
stronger and more interesting. At the end, you mentioned which type of readers
would be most suitable with this book and this is helpful for everyone who is
interested in reading this book. However, I think that you could have commented
about the bad aspects about the book so that readers may decide whether they
want to read it.
