3. In India, a familiar pattern of pressure on Christians
Even in a multicultural place like India, many Christians are becoming martyrs. India is "No. 31 on Open Doors' 2013 World Watch List," a list that indicates the top 50 countries where a Christian life is difficult. Hindutva, Hindus that condemn other religions to enter India, mostly target Christians as inferiors. Hindutva military distracts the Christians by "breaking up prayer meetings, intimidating pastors, assaulting worshipers and chasing Christian families from their homes and villages." It is said that the "Hindutva has a political base in India's right-wing, nationalist Bharatiya Janta Party." It holds power of the seven out of 28 states in India, reigning over 15 percent of India's population. India is known to have lessen the religious intimidation, but due to "political corruption, and religious bias, particularly at the state and local levels,"Hindutva are rarely punished for their misbehavior. The author includes cases of Christian persecution in different states in India.
The author is persuasive in his article. He reveres Christians by exemplifying injurious incidents happening to Christians in India. He is meticulous to see what kind of incidents have happened in each province of the country. I think that this article contains many of the author's opinions. The author could have put direct quotes of missionaries in India to show their opinions about the incident. Although the author lacked specific information, the author was persuasive.
