3. Woman Falls 17 Stories to Her Death; AP Implies She Deserved It

On Thursday, August 1st, a woman living in New York fell from her apartment's balcony when the railing collapsed, author L.V. Anderson reports. Most people would believe this was just a case of bad construction or bad luck, but the Associated Press believes differently. The Associated Press said that since she leaned against the railing, as the man she invited into her apartment specifically warned against, that it was entirely her fault. The sexist article from the Associated Press implies that she should've listened to the man and that her judgement was faulty. This made many people angry at the Associated Press and wondering about the author who wrote this and why they would imply something like that.

Anderson's writing style is effective but very odd. The article definitely makes you rethink the motives of the Associated Press, and wonder if they are credible. However, while Anderson starts out with very casual language, she later uses some very complex words that makes the writing seem more formal. This makes the tone confusing and left me wondering what tone she actually wants to use. Her summary of the Associated Press article was quite effective however, it was just confusing reading casual language at the start and then almost immediately jumping into formal language with complex words.
